Wissenschaft trifft Wirtschaft (WtW, “Science meets business”): ADVANCED MATERIALS

08.12.2015 | 14:00 Uhr - Erwin Schrödinger-Zentrum Adlershof | Rudower Chaussee 26 | 12489 Berlin

On 8 December 2015, the event series „Wissenschaft trifft Wirtschaft“ (WtW, Science meets business) will take place for the fourth time at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. This year’s event focusses on Advanced Materials.

Berlin is among the largest science regions in Europe and has the greatest concentration of university and institutional research facilities in Germany. The efficient transfer of research results into marketable products is a decisive strength for any region and requires an intensive cooperation between science and business. Recently the Federal Minister of Education and Research Johanna Wanka also confirmed that one of the most important reasons of Germany’s success is the good network between science and economy. To strengthen the competiveness of Germany – its capital region in particular – and to establish the HU as a preeminent source of innovation, it is our responsibility to foster the transfer of knowledge and technology.

At the event, researchers will have the chance to learn about current and future challenges companies face working with new materials. At the same time, HU scientists from the Integrative Research Institute for the Sciences IRIS Adlershof and the Physics and Chemistry Departments (more information) are going to showcase their successful application-oriented research cooperations with third parties. Scientists and companies will have ample opportunity to network and to discuss their research subjects in more detail in the course of the day.
