Entrepreneurial education is a crucial factor in the formation of a productive "Gründergeist" at any university. Each member of the university should have the opportunity to recognise and benefit from entrepreneurial spirit. The Humboldt-Universität already offers such contact points. Humboldt-Innovation helps and supports the further integration of entrepreneurial education into the curriculum.

The Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies and Innovation Management was founded in May of 2000, Professor Dr. Christian Schade is head of the institute.

The teaching and courses are designed to give students an understanding of entrepreneurship, the problems of the venture formation process, and the management and marketing of innovations.

Forum of Innovation
A group of exclusive companies present and discuss their innovative ideas and products with students and researchers. The main goals of the course, which is supervised by Prof. Miroslaw Malek, are to encourage the cooperation betwteen industry and science, to show new concepts and innovations and to encourage the university's "Gründergeist". Students can also acquire credit points.

Ideas to Reality - WIWEX Start your own Business
This course is dedicated to students from the faculty of economics, who are interested in starting their own business. Needless to say, students from all other faculties are welcome to participate. Students are given the opportunity to present their business ideas. Participants without concrete ideas get inspirations by "group brainstorming". Within the group the businessplans are analyzed and relevant details like the choice of legal form and approaches to marketing are being discussed.

Certification with 2 SP (without grade/ BZQ)

Hans-Sauer Foundation endowed chair of metropolis and innovation research
The inventor and innovation research of Prof. Mieg is funded by the Hans-Sauer Foundation. The research is focused on the processes of inventing, the realization of inventions in marketable products and the requirements for successful inventions. In order to support sustainable inventions, Christian Hoffmann and Prof. Mieg have created an online-assistant for inventors, based on the DABEI-handbook developed by Hans-Sauer. Information needed in different project phases is provided.

Blended Learing Course
The main goal of this course, supervised by Ursula Schwill, is to give an introduction to the topic "Starting a business / self-employment". Students with concrete plans for a start-up will be supported. Those who are uncertain about self-employment will receive information and assistance. Credit points can be acquired by writing a businessplan for an existing or fictive business start-up.
