Cyano Biofuels

Cyano Biofuels is a spin-off from the institute of biology of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. It aims at producing renewable biofuels and other chemical raw materials at industrial scale, using modified cyanobacteria.

Cyano Biofuels is a research and development enterprise, specialized in the optimization of cyanobacteria. Phototrophic organisms are enhanced and given the ability to metabolize sun light, CO2 and water into ethanol. The enterprise is a leading developer of 3rd generation biofuels.

A positive effect of the technology is the high demand of CO2. In production scale, this technology can considerably participate in reducing green house gases. Cyano Biofuels is growing quickly and employs more than 30 scientists three years after formation.
