Next to the drug itself, the method of drug delivery is of great importance to the success of medical treatment. Avoiding the risks of over- and under-supply, continuous delivery is of advantage in comparison to repeated dosage by tablets or injections. Additionally, many newly developed drugs like antibodies or RNAs can only be delivered continuously, as part of the parenteral method. At present, there are no disposable micropumps for drug delivery available, which do not limit the patients mobility and unburden the caregiver.

Acuros newly developed osmotic micro pumps can be used as an inexpensive, disposable drug delivery device, providing more safety at lower expense in the medical sector. Patients gain a higher quality of life through optimised medication and improved mobility. The innovation is protected by international patent applications and is independent from any third-party intellectual property.

Information: Acuros produces osmotic, self-regulating, portable and disposable parenteral micro-pumps for slow absorption drug delivery with no further energy source needed. Acuros innovation is based on the principle of osmosis. Osmoregulation means the adjustment of the osmotic pressure at a semi permeable membrane in a steady state. This results in osmosis becoming a precisely adjustable phenomenon for the first time.
